About
Coach Steve
Coach Steve Diderrich Jr. is the founder of Iron Catching, a faith-driven catching program dedicated to developing complete catchers who lead with confidence, toughness, and purpose.
From his early days as a player, Steve was known for his relentless work ethic and love for the game — but his journey wasn’t without challenges. Multiple injuries, including a torn labrum and bicep tear, changed his path and ultimately revealed his calling: to teach, mentor, and develop the next generation of catchers.
What began as personal adversity became the foundation for a lifelong mission — helping catchers train with intent, build resilience, and lead both on and off the field.
The Root of Iron Catching
Iron Catching was born while Steve served as a catching coordinator for an academy in Wisconsin, where he began designing a system to train catchers with more purpose and structure.
He recognized a deeper need — not just for drills and reps, but for a culture of leadership, discipline, and accountability. That vision grew into a movement grounded in faith and inspired by Proverbs 27:17 — “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
From that verse came the name Iron Catching — a reminder that growth happens through challenge, community, and faith. Every lesson, program, and conversation now carries that same message: we sharpen each other through the work we put in, the mindset we develop, and the standard we live by.

Faith • Focus • Hard Work
Today, Iron Catching represents more than baseball — it’s about helping athletes grow in faith, character, and confidence through the game they love. Whether it’s online, or hybrid training, every athlete who works with Coach Steve learns to lead with integrity, compete with purpose, and trust the process that shapes both their game and their life.
